Victoria's Ship Wreck Coast's The Twelve Apostles Featuring Landscape Images of Spectacular Limestone Stacks
The Twelve Apostles on the Shipwreck Coast in Victoria's Port Campbell National Park, it has a visitor centre and car park located just off The Great Ocean Road. The coastal geology is sandy limestone with harder top layers than those on the bottom and interspersed with mudstone (marl) so the softer layers allow undermining and creating overhangs arches and stacks, a great place for landscape photography.
In the classic landscape view, The Twelve Apostles is comprised of seven rock stacks and the remains of an eight, which collapsed in 2005.
The image panoramas looking east show that there are another two stacks, which are arguably not part of the apostles group.
