Meningie in South Australia is on the Shores of Lake Albert and Home to Australian Pelican Colonies
Meningie on the shores of Lake Albert is a good place take for a break when driving from Robe to Victor Harbor. Stop for lunch, a great place to photograph the wildlife and capture bird images of the Australian Pelicans (Pelecanus conspicillatus) in their colonies and Silver Gulls (Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae).
The Australian Pelican (Pelecanus conspicillatus) is the biggest of the seven worldwide species having a wingspan around 2.5 metres and an elongated bill around half a metre in length. They range from western Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Australia and some western Pacific Island. They normally feed by cooperative fishing.
