A Photo Essay of a Scenic Walk through Maits Rest Rainforest Endemic Tree Ferns, Ancient Myrtle-Beech and Eucalyptus Trees
The Maits Rest Rainforest walk is fifteen minutes drive east of Apollo Bay on The Great Ocean Road. This is an easy thirty-minute scenic circular walk starting and finishing at the car park with some boardwalk sections. The walk takes you through tree fern gullies, ancient rainforest trees of myrtle-beech (Nothofagus cunninghamii) some are hundreds of years old, and of course, ubiquitous eucalyptus.
