A Photo Essay of a Scenic Walk through Maits Rest Rainforest Endemic Tree Ferns, Ancient Myrtle-Beech and Eucalyptus Trees

The Maits Rest Rainforest walk is fifteen minutes drive east of Apollo Bay on The Great Ocean Road. This is an easy thirty-minute scenic circular walk starting and finishing at the car park with some boardwalk sections. The walk takes you through tree fern gullies, ancient rainforest trees of myrtle-beech (Nothofagus cunninghamii) some are hundreds of years old, and of course, ubiquitous eucalyptus.

Photo essay of an early morning walk through Maits Rainforest, in misty conditions and low light, made photography challenging – but this helped produce, some eerie images.
